“Alexa, can you help me learn French?”
We are currently developing an Amazon Alexa game to help school students learn French. The game is intended for use as a classroom or afterschool activity.
The game will cover various aspects of learning a foreign language, such as listening comprehension and oral expression, through conversations with Alexa during gameplay.
The critical age to learn a foreign language is between birth and 8 years old, when children are capable of learning a language on par with a native speaker. Research has shown that early exposure to a foreign language can improve cognitive abilities in other academic areas. Also, bilingualism has been shown to benefit mental flexibility and concept formation, and experience in multiple cultures have intellectual benefits.
